To make the process easier for you, we’ve also suggested some of our favorite products, including the best blonde hair dye and gloss, that will make your hair perfect for the summer.

1. Find The Right Hair Dye

The most crucial step of caring for your hair?

It's finding the right product.

As you may already know, going blonde is an intricate process. To cover your root regrowth or maintain your color, you might be tempted to go to the local drugstore for box dyes

Here’s why you shouldn’t:

Hair dye must be customized to each person. Mass-produced hair dyes do not guarantee the best results for everyone, and they can even ruin your hair! More often than not, sales personnel at the store also do not have the expertise to help you decide which blonde hair dye is the best for you.

Fortunately,

The Lab Lounge has developed a convenient and personalized way for you to get your blonde hair dye!

With our Custom @ Home hair Color Kit, you can get specially-formulated hair dye right at your doorstep. No need to step out to the salon for professional hair help!

The process is simple: First, you have to fill out our hair quiz. Your answers will help us craft the right product for all your hair needs. Doing so will also help us touch up your regrowth or gray cover. Then purchase which Kit is best for you!

What happens next after answering the quiz? You just sit back and leave everything to us!

We’ll recommend the right shade and proceed to build your personalized kit. You can sit prettily while we lovingly craft your Custom Color Kit.

When it arrives, make sure to apply it within two weeks. The package comes with everything you will need for your perfect hair color.

The best part?

We always keep notes of every formula we create. So should you desire any adjustments on your next order, you can email us your requests!

To add a cherry on top, all the tools are reusable! We encourage you to use them multiple times. We’ll give you 10% off your next purchase if ya do!

The kit also includes a scannable barcode. You can use this to access instructional videos, plus some professional tips and tricks to make sure you achieve that perfect hair color. If you’re vacationing, you can even take this convenient kit with you on the road and get your hair color done wherever you need it!

2. Use The Appropriate Shampoo

Brassiness is every blonde’s worst enemy. It can ruin your hair’s vitality. Good thing you don’t have to settle for brassy hair forever.

Why?

Because purple shampoo is your new best friend. This product will help you cool down those unwanted warm tones. However, you don’t need to use it every day. You should only apply this product when it’s time to reinvigorate cool tones.

For regular washing, use a shampoo that’s formulated for colored hair. Doing so will help minimize the fading of your hair color. We personally love the KeraCare - Moisturizing Shampoo for Color Treated Hair. This shampoo helps preserve your hair’s vibrant color without sacrificing healthiness.

Also, remember that too much washing can reduce your blonde hair dye’s vibrancy.

Set a washing schedule that works best for you. This can be once or twice a week.

Here’s another tip from Neeko & I ;)

After washing your hair, apply moisturizer and then rinse again with cold water! Doing so will lock in your hair’s moisture and prevent frizz.

If you struggle with frizz, you can benefit from Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Hair Primer for moisture and sun protection. Then, finish it off with the KeraCare Foam Wrap-Set Lotion. This foam wrap lotion will add moisture and hold the texture of your hair.

3. Find The Right Treatment

In case you were not aware, here’s a hair care tip you should know by now: Just like your weekly face masks, your blonde hair needs some TLC, too

Using a deep conditioning hair mask will make your parched hair happy.

Luckily, you don’t always have to go to the salon for treatments. One of our absolute favorites is Joico’s Moisture Recovery Balm

Below are some benefits of hair masks:

  • Softens your hair

  • Adds shine to your hair

  • Provides additional moisture

  • Reduces hair breakage

  • Minimizes unwanted frizz

  • Takes care of your scalp

Blonde hair dye can be damaging to some, especially if not formulated for your hair type. That’s why it’s essential to use deep-conditioning hair masks at least twice a month. This practice ensures your hair maintains its bounce.

Put on a nourishing mask for your face and a conditioning mask for your hair for a fun self-care day. Then, play your favorite relaxing music while you let the masks do their magic. Trust us. Your skin and hair will thank you!

4. Use A Microfiber Towel

It may sound surprising, but the towels you use can affect your hair.

Religiously sticking to your hair regimen is useless if you use the wrong towel!

Cotton and terry cloth towels are usually rough for the hair. When you use them, they create friction. This rubbing motion increases the risk of damage.

Are you still using a bath towel for your hair?

If yes, now is the time to invest in microfiber towels. These are made of tiny fibers that are gentler than a regular bath towel. They don’t create as much friction. In addition, they won’t snag and tug at your hair strands.

Furthermore, they are far more absorbent, too! As such, microfiber towels can drastically speed up your drying time. There won’t be any need for you to excessively rub and tug at your hair, protecting your precious locks.

5. Tone Up Your Blonde Hair

Despite taking protective measures, natural elements will most likely tarnish the brightness of your blonde hair.

Over time, the color of your hair will oxidize and change. However, not all hope is lost.

There’s no need to chop off your hair or simply live with the unwanted tones. You can still enjoy great blonde hair even after it gets tarnished.

Say hello to your hair’s new best friend: hair toners aka GLOSS!

What exactly is a hair toner?

Hair toners are a type of semi-permanent dye. This product helps restore your hair to your desired tone.

Using toners will make your blonde hair even more vibrant. They can bring life back to brassy and dull hair. It’s time to say goodbye to discoloration with hair toners.

Want even more good news?

You won't need to waste any time finding the best hair toner.

With the Custom @ Home Gloss Kit, saving your blonde hair from brassiness and lack of luster has never been easier. Especially with sun damage from the summer, you will need this product to care for your blonde hair. To achieve optimum results, we recommend that you get the Gloss Kit as an add-on to your Color Kit

If you’re simply looking into rejuvenating your hair, you can buy the @ Home Gloss Kit on its own, too.

6. Keep Your Hair Moisturized

To set properly, blonde hair dye has to go through some barriers, the first of which is your cuticle. It is the outermost layer responsible for protecting the inside of your hair shaft. As the color sets, you may notice that your hair may seem dry. But, there’s no need to worry. If you think moisturizing conditioners aren’t enough, oils are here to help.

How can oils help?

Hair oil works as a second treatment after deep conditioners to lock in your hair’s moisture.

We all know the importance of keeping skin moisturized. The same applies to your hair. It needs to stay hydrated to be healthy. Here are a few oils you can use for your blonde hair:

  • Argan oil is rich in antioxidants and can help protect your hair from facing any further damage.

  • Olive oil for added softness and shine to your hair. It penetrates your hair shaft, preserving moisture and strengthening the hair.

  • Coconut oil is best applied to the ends of your hair. This will seal your hair’s moisture and prevent the loss of protein.

  • Almond oil is packed with proteins and vitamin E. These nutrients will bind your hair and make your strands stronger.

However, keep in mind to find a clear oil. Oils with even the slightest tints can show on blonde hair.

Think of your blonde hair as a blank, white canvas. Any kind of paint, even of the lightest shade, will appear on it. Hair oils can mess with your blonde hair, especially if it has a yellow or bronze tint.

7. Be Careful With The Hot Tools

We’re not going to tell you to ditch the straightener or the hair curler.

We understand that they help further beautify your blonde hair. After all, blow-drying, straightening, and curling your locks can add to their appeal. If you need that extra confidence boost, go ahead and pick up those hot tools.

Here’s what we’ll advise you instead:

Prep your hair with products that will give it protection from hot tools.

We’ve already put together our recommended products for you to try:

When you have a busy schedule, take a break from the heat and simply let your hair dry. We promise that your hair will be happy!

8. Don’t Skip The Haircuts

Chemicals from dyes, settle at the ends of your hair. Aside from breaking down your cuticle, they also cause split ends.

Think of your hair as a rope. Once the end is torn, the rest will unravel. If the ends of your hair get compromised, the damage will work its way up.

The solution?

Schedule a trim a week after using blond hair dye.

For the best results, get a trim regularly. Depending on your hair growth and condition, visit your hairdresser every six to ten weeks or so. Trimming your hair makes it look healthier and fuller, too. So don’t skip the haircuts!

Caring for blonde hair can be elaborate, especially during the summertime. However, having perfect blonde hair does not have to be complicated!

Start by using a perfectly formulated blonde hair dye, and make sure to use the right products to maintain the color and shine of your locks.
